The 2007 Premier Financial Services Carolina
Trophy is in the books!
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PODIUM FINISHERS:
After a close-fought rally in the Competitive Category from start to
finish,
we are proud to present the 2007 podium finishers in the
Premier Financial
Services Carolina Trophy:
2007 CHAMPIONS – PREMIER FINANCIAL SERVICES TROPHY:
HANS HUWYLER and ROSS SCHLABACH: Austin-Healey 100-6
Hans and Ross have been on all three Carolina Trophies to date and
are perennial top-five finishers, but for 2007 they rallied
exceptionally and consistently from start to finish and took the
overall honors. They might make the perfect rally team. Hans has an
enormous amount of international rally experience, having run the
Rallye des Alpes on several occasions as well as other European
events. He also has considerable road racing experience in both
vintage and modern machinery. Ross is a former F-106 fighter pilot
and banking executive, giving him a deep understanding of
time-speed-distance and numerical calculations, and is an avid
driver and restorer of vintage motorcars. The result is a balance of
driving precision and navigational expertise that is tough to beat.
SECOND PLACE OVERALL:
TOM SMITH and SEAN PETTY: Aston-Martin V8
Although Tom and Sean are among the most outgoing and fun-loving
entrants on every Carolina Trophy, they turn remarkably serious when
it comes to the rally itself, and their second-place result is a
testament to their rally skills. Tom and Sean have participated in
every Carolina Trophy to date, and often turn in “best of stage”
results.
THIRD PLACE OVERALL:
DON POLAK and ED KELLY: 1962 Alpine-Renault A110
Reunited for 2007 after rallying together many years ago, Don and Ed
took Don’s historic ex-works Alpine to third place overall. With an
incredibly smooth, precise rallying style, Don and Ed regularly
turned in top score of the day, and were a threat to win overall
right through the final stage.
